FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a rapid antigen test and when is it useful?

The rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 detects an acute corona disease within a maximum of 30 minutes. In the event of illness, this enables immediate treatment and thus increases the chances of a weaker course of the disease. In addition, people who tested positive can isolate themselves directly and thus protect their fellow human beings. By using rapid antigen tests, the scarce PCR test resources are spared and the health system is not burdened.

A rapid antigen test protects those around you. It should always be used when there is a suspected case, or there has been contact with someone infected with corona.

The rapid antigen test can also only serve as a safeguard, for example if you want to visit a person from a risk group or simply your relatives and want to be sure not to endanger them in times of Corona.

Note that we cannot test anyone before they reach the age of 5.

  • In our test station we carry out rapid antigen tests that are listed by the BfArM and with an accuracy between 96-99%. The antigen tests are the subject of the claim according to § 1 sentence 1 according to "Third ordinance amending the ordinance on the entitlement to certain tests for the detection of the presence of an infection with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (Coronavirus Test Ordinance - TestV)". It must be clear: a negative test result with a rapid antigen test does not mean that you are not or have not been infected. However, it means that there is a high probability that you will not infect anyone on this day - because the test is more accurate when you are particularly infectious

  • A big advantage of the antigen test is that it only takes about 15 minutes between taking the sample and the result. This is why rapid antigen tests can help to find infected people earlier. The reason: from studies you know that you have the highest viral load before you even notice anything about the disease. It is precisely during that time, that you can easily infect other people - even if you feel healthy.

The rapid antigen test is an important part of the national test strategy, as the use of rapid antigen tests conserves the scarce PCR test resources and does not burden the health system.

  • In contrast to PCR tests, rapid tests do not detect genetic material, but virus proteins. With our test products, nasal samples (anterior nasal area), nasopharyngeal samples (nasopharynx) and orpharyngeal samples (pharynx) can be performed. The sample material is then placed in a liquid in order to dissolve the proteins. Then a few drops are filled into the test cassette and the test result can be read after 15 minutes.

  • This depends a lot on the country you plan to travel to. Some countries, such as Italy or Spain, accept a negative result of an rapid antigen test for entry into the country. Further information on the entry requirements of the respective travel destination can be found on the website of the Federal Foreign Office: https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/de/aussenpolitik/laender or on the official site of the European union https://reopen.europa.eu/de.

  • In some cases, a negative antigen test is sufficient to shorten the quarantine. All information can be found here: https://www.bundesgesundheitsministerium.de/coronavirus-infos-reisende/faq-tests-einreisende.html
    https://www.berlin.de/corona/massnahmen/quarantaene/

  • In the case of the personalized test, in contrast to the standard test, our team checks your personal data on site by checking an official identity card or passport. Within 24 hours you will receive a PDF with the personalized test result, in which we confirm that you have actually been tested.

  • From October 11, 2021, according to § 4a TestV („Testing for persons unable to vaccinate and segregated“),the only citizen listed below can be tested once a week with a PoC antigen test (so-called antigen rapid test) free of charge. It is only for asymptomatic persons who had no reasonable opportunity to obtain adequate vaccination protection in time and for asymptomatic isolated persons.

The following citizen can get tested for free:
People who have not yet reached the age of twelve at the time of the test or who have reached the age of twelve in the last three months before the test.

People who cannot be vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus at the time of the test due to a medical contraindication, in particular pregnancy in the first trimester of pregnancy, or who cannot be vaccinated against the coronavirus in the last three months before the test due to a medical contraindication.

Until 31st of December 2021: People who have not yet reached the age of 18 at the time of the test, pregnant women at the time of the test and students at the time of the test who received a vaccination other than that provided by the Paul Ehrlich Institute on the Internet at the address http : //www.pei.de/impfstoffe/covid-19 mentioned vaccines.

Persons which are participating in clinical studies at the time of testing on the effectiveness of vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus or who have participated in such studies in the last three months prior to testing.
